Dr. Cat McGinnis was born and raised in Decatur, Georgia, with one lifelong goal — to become a veterinarian. She earned her degree from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008, even working alongside the university's famous English bulldog mascots along the way.
After a few years in mixed-animal practice, she came home to Georgia and purchased American Heritage Animal Hospital in 2013. She has a special passion for Great Danes — working closely with the breed and in Great Dane rescue for more than a decade.
To Dr. Cat, every patient is family, and it shows in the time she takes to get to know each pet and their owner.

Although we had not visited previously, I was able to get a same-day appointment. A quick diagnosis was made, and unfortunately Dr. Cat had to give us the news I was dreading. The staff patiently and tenderly waited for my family to arrive so we could all say goodbye. A few days later, we received a sympathy card with lovely hand written notes from each staff member, along with a paw print and tuft of fur. This vet office was a good choice.
